Unruly Mane

Unruly Mane is a Westchester-based indie folk-rock powerhouse led by the husband-and-wife duo Leea and Steven Scarola. Formed in 2015, the band was born from the pair's desire to merge their shared musical history with their deep-seeded Irish and Italian roots. Before the band's inception, Steven Scarola gained national recognition as the lead guitarist for the pop-rock outfit Push Play, which achieved Top 40 success with the hit "Midnight Romeo." After the two met at Fordham University and collaborated in the indie group La La Lush, they branched off to form Unruly Mane, cultivating a sound that is often described as "foot-stomping folk" characterized by a cinematic, "wall of sound" production.

Their discography is anchored by their 2016 debut EP, Roots, which established their reputation for writing anthemic songs centered on themes of bravery, love, and perseverance. Tracks like "I Was" and "River" highlighted Leea’s powerful, evocative vocals and Steven’s intricate guitar work, securing them a spot as a staple in the New York City music scene. Over the years, the band has maintained a steady output of singles, including the resilience-focused "Fire" and the more polished, contemporary indie-pop track "Making It." Known for their high-energy live performances at iconic venues like the Bowery Ballroom, Unruly Mane has expanded their reach far beyond NYC, bringing their unique brand of soulful storytelling to international audiences in Kenya, Ireland, and Canada.
