RENÉE CHRISTINE
Renee Christine moves through the world as an observer. The Americana singer-songwriter and cellist spins tales of misfortune, resilience and Appalachian lore over impassioned string arrangements, finger-picked guitar and percussion.
As a long-distance backpacker with a degree in Parks and Recreation, Renee never planned to pursue music – until a series of unfortunate events inspired something of a songwriting renaissance while living at home after college. Sharing original songs and reimagined covers while accompanying herself on cello, Renee stumbled upon a diverse and dedicated online audience who were in awe of her guttural voice, and moved by the depth of her subject matter.
In the lineage of outspoken artists like Hozier and Hayley Williams, Renee writes what can only be described as modern protest music. “I feel a massive sense of urgency to say what needs to be said,” she says. On her breakthrough singles “Lehigh Valley” and “Turtle Island,” she is candid about the hardships of small town America: Ever since the devils in the White House gutted this place / Well, the bullet and the bottle get around. Raised outside of Philadelphia, PA and now based near Phoenix, AZ, Renee forged relationships with people across the political spectrum as a backpacker, both informing and enforcing her desire to write about what she believes in – from climate justice to calling out abuses of power.
Growing up in a music-loving family, Renee spent her childhood playing cello and guitar, writing poetry, and listening to her mom’s Neil Young, John Gorka and Simon & Garfunkel CDs. On Appalachia, Renee fuses the singer-songwriter sensibility she grew up on with a folk-punk edge. Produced by newfound collaborator Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, ASHE), the project captures the raw energy of her acoustic performance videos, and heightens the stakes of her sound.
We’re so honored to welcome Renee Christine and her NYC-based quartet to The Grand!

Rhys Jones & Friends: St. Patrick’s Day Bash
THE St. Patrick’s Day party comes to The Grand. Traditional foods, drink specials, and the best Irish music you can hear off the island.
Rhys Jones | Aaron Olwell | Kate Knudsvig | Richard Osban
Rhys Jones has been playing traditional Appalachian, French-Canadian and Irish fiddle music for 30 years. Born in Chicago, he began his fiddling at age 7 in the fertile environment of the Chicago Barn Dance Company. Soon after, his family moved to southern West Virginia where he learned from the older generation of fiddlers, including Ernie Carpenter, Melvin Wine, Glen Smith and Wilson Douglas. Rhys continued his musical education while living in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland, and has now played for concerts, dances, workshops and festivals across the United States and Europe.
He has won both fiddle and band contests at The Appalachian String Band Festival (Clifftop), and is regarded as "one of the bright lights of the current generation of traditional performers." Rhys has three albums with the Vigortone label, appears on numerous compiliations and recordings, and can be seen in the award-winning concert documentary Absolutely Irish. Rhys is also known as an accomplished banjo and guitar player, and is always in d and as an accompanist to both Irish and American musicians.
Aaron Olwell grew up in the workshop and started learning music at a young age, studying pennywhistle, flute, fiddle, and concertina. Eventually branching out to immerse himself in multiple forms of music including Irish, American old time, and early trad jazz, he is a voracious learner, a skilled artisan, and an all-around musician’s musician, and has played on such cult-classic recordings as the 2007 Light and Hitch.
Kate Knudsvig Classical violinist and Irish fiddler Kate Knudsvig was born in Hof, Germany, and currently resides in Boston, Massachusetts. Formative years spent in a household with two classical brass-musician parents laid the foundation for her musical interests. While studying at Eastman with Federico Agostini and later with Juliana Athayde, Kate’s artistic trajectory took an unexpected turn as she found herself drawn to styles of music apart from classical. During this time she explored a number of different genres, taking three independent studies in jazz and jazz theory, playing with a bluegrass band, and co-founding the alternative-folk and singer-songwriter group, Copper Hill. This interest in non-classical styles led to her attendance at the New England Conservatory, where she fell in love with Irish traditional music and obtained a Master’s degree in Contemporary Musical Arts under the guidance of renowned Irish fiddler and educator, Liz Knowles.
She is in the folk-supergroup forsyth and can regularly be found leading Irish sessions all over Boston. She has performed in Symphony Hall and New York’s Carnegie Hall with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra, has been a guest artist and recorded with the grammy-nominated group Palaver Strings, and is the Principal 2nd Violinist for the Brockton Symphony Orchestra. Kate is in the and can regularly be found at Irish sessions around Boston. A touring musician, Kate is the fiddle player in the hit PBS-group Celtic Thunder, has performed at the Kennedy Center with the Shamrocks, and also regularly performs with world-renowned Irish tenor Emmet Cahill.
Richard Osban is a dynamic accompanist based in Baltimore, Maryland. He got his start with Irish traditional music while living in Europe, and toured internationally with several Irish and Scottish music projects before returning to the US. He regularly tours with his trio, the East Coasters. In addition, he has toured and performed with internationally acclaimed musicians, including Billy McComiskey, Steph Geremia, Sarah Collins, and duo Jocelyn Pettit and Ellen Gira.
Richard is the director of the Baltimore Irish Tenor Banjo Summit and the Baltimore Irish Trad Fest, and Executive Director of the Baltimore Irish Music School. He is the guitar and tenor banjo/mandolin teacher at the Baltimore Irish Music School, and has been on the instructional staff at MAD week in DC (guitar), Folksounds Elmstein in Elmstein, Germany (guitar), CelticFest Mississippi (banjo 2023, guitar 2024), The Irish Weekend in Ismaning, Germany (mandolin/banjo 2018, guitar 2023), Tune Junkie in Knoxille, TN (guitar) and the Celtic Folk Weekend in Waldmünchen, Germany (guitar 2018, banjo 2024 and 2025).

Jenna Nicholls
Jenna Nicholls is a genre-blending singer-songwriter whose music evokes the golden age of the American Songbook, laced with the spirit of Hank Williams and Patsy Cline. With four albums under her belt—including a debut featured in film and television soundtracks—Jenna’s latest album, The Commuter, produced by three time Grammy-winner Larry Campbell, delivers vintage Americana with a fresh, cinematic feel. With Campbell’s masterful touch and Jenna’s unmistakable voice at the helm, the record is a modern classic—a love letter to American music in all its dusty, dreamy glory.
Hailing from the small town of Irwin, PA near Pittsburgh, after college Jenna set her sights east to test her wings as a songwriter and performer. Initially trying Boston, she ultimately gravitated to the creative hotbed of Manhattan’s Lower East Side forging lasting friendships with other like-minded artists and musicians. Her early albums revealed a restless muse and a theme that would be a constant for Nicholls: a love of vintage music – anything from classic music films like “Singin’ in the Rain” to Bessie Smith.
A winner of the multiple songwriter competitions, Jenna has toured with Ingrid Michaelson, Glen Hansard, Lucius and Joan as Policewoman, performing at iconic venues including the Beacon Theater and Carnegie Hall. With every note, Jenna Nicholls invites you into a world where old souls speak, hearts break, and stories live on in song.
“Her songs land like a freight ship into the harbor of hearts and ears… The air changes. Pure mastery.” —Glen Hansard

Guitarist and singer Jake Wildhorn has set his sights on becoming the next big rock songwriter of a generation. The gritty, genre-blending artist is an amalgam of the incredibly rich history of New York City.
In 2022, Jake had a successful run of monthly shows at The Bitter End in New York City and opened for folk icon Gordon Lightfoot on an extensive US tour. His music is a mix of contemporary pop rock and americana inspired by both modern and classic artists such as Rob Thomas, Cage The Elephant, Linkin Park, The Eagles, Gavin DeGraw, and KALEO.
After a string of single releases including "Man on a Wire" and "Kids in a Castle", Jake debuted his first full-length album, 12 Rounds, in October of 2023. The album has accumulated hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify and other music platforms and continues to find new ears today. His EP Heaven Can Wait was released in August of 2024 and has since become the first project to receive radio play across the US for the artist.
In November of 2025, Jake released his 2nd album, The Last Coyote, which brought a much more focused set of songs inspired in theme and metaphor by the end of outlaws. From headlining clubs in Manhattan to main staging festivals across the northeast, whether as a band or solo, Jake Wildhorn is a musical force on stage, not just as an entertainer but as a storyteller.
He makes his Grand debut with his band on Saturday, February 28.

D-Major Project
The D-Major Project
The D-Major Project features a brilliant collaboration of musicians who approach the repertoire they perform from a wide eclectic mix of influences. Although often referred to as “an improvisational jazz group”, that only describes one aspect of what their music really is. More accurately, The D-Major Project performs everything from folk to jazz to classic soul, Latin, neo-funk, world beat, roots and pop music, but always in their own unorthodox way! They take popular songs from every era, in all genres and styles, and mostly re-write, re- arrange, re-harmonize and rhythmically transform them into their own fun, sometimes quirky, original, and truly unique renditions. The band is centered around the mesmerizing vocal stylings of DEBBIE MAJOR (“D-Major”) accompanied by the extraordinary talents of KEN McGLOIN (guitar & ukulele), KENDALL BUCHANAN (bass), and JON BATES (drums & percussion).
Debbie Major (Vocals) is a very active award winning “first call” vocalist, performer, music teacher and vocal coach based in New York’s Hudson Valley, who has recorded and collaborated extensively with many prominent musicians, producers and music contractors throughout her career. She is also a prominent Training Coach and Director for the world renowned Rhythmic Arts Project (TRAP) founded by Eddie Tuduri, and she was the founder of "ZYLOFONE", a music arts program created to provide powerful life-changing music and drama therapy programs for people with cognitive and physical disabilities. She has become well known for her innovative teaching methodologies that empower people to discover and develop their own inherent creative gifts.
Jon Bates (Percussion & Vocals) has established a very solid track record as a bandleader, music contractor, drummer and percussionist over his almost 50-year career. For 20 years he was the production coordinator for many worldwide music events, presenting a Who’s Who of music royalty in numerous renditions of “The Floating Jazz Festival”, “The Blues Cruise”, and many other highly acclaimed festival events aboard luxury cruise ships around the world, while also performing with such notables as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Albert Collins, Dr. John, Astrud Gilberto and others. He was also a studio manager and in-house producer/engineer for the Chiaroscuro Records label, and has production and/or performance credits on more than one hundred commercially released recordings.
Ken McGloin (Guitar) has been a working musician since the age of 14, able to play many styles with an authentic feel and appreciation for what makes each valid in its own way. He is the Music Director and Guitar-Bass- Ukulele instructor at The Poughkeepsie Day School in Poughkeepsie, NY and runs their Summer Jazz Camp program. Ken has led bands ranging from swing to hip-hop, folk to funk, and his “hard-core alternative” band, Lunchmeat, played the main stage at the 1994 25th Anniversary Woodstock Festival. He is the guitarist and musical director for the internationally acclaimed "Face The Music"- www.facethemusicblues.com - which presents innovative team building programs, using music to inspire and enhance the performance of corporate management and sales teams, administrators, researchers, and ranking professionals at Fortune 500 companies around the globe, and his music has been featured on many popular shows, including "The Real World" (MTV) "Road Rules" (MTV), “The Oprah Winfrey Show”, and the ESPN network.
Kendall Buchanan (Bass) is a highly sought after bassist, who has built an impressive resume of musical performances at such venues as The Urban Arts Corp in New York City, Medgar Evers College, Avery Fisher Hall, the JVC Jazz Festival, and The Ed Sullivan Theater. He performed in the original band for Tony Award nominated Vinnette Carroll in “Your Arms Too Short To Box With God” on Broadway. He recorded and toured the world extensively with jazz guitar legend Sonny Sharrock, and has been a member of the prolific World Music jam band, SUNDAD, since 2018, as well as consistently collaborating on many other exciting musical projects and endeavors.
